Culture and history

The Drammenselva River is a legendary salmon river throughout history – not only because of its size and catches, but because for centuries the river has been the lifeblood of the people who live here.
About salmon and humans – culture and traditions
Exhibition by the river
The outdoor exhibition is free and available year-round.
You can learn about the salmon, its life cycle, what it has meant to us, the threats it faces, how it is doing, what has been done to care for the salmon, and what is needed to secure the salmon for the future.
By using the QR codes at the exhibition, you can gain in-depth knowledge if you wish.

Group visit
Hellefossen Wild Animal Center is open during the summer season on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5 pm.
If you would like a guided visit to Hellefossen Wildlife Center, we accept group bookings all year round.
This can also be combined with dining at Elvehuset, if desired.
